Recognition for Commitment to Hiring Veterans
GLASTONBURY, CT, April 12, 2016 – Gemma Power Systems, LLC (GPS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Argan, Inc. (NYSE: AGX) has been awarded one of the first Orion International 25th Anniversary Challenge Coins for GPS’ commitment to hiring veterans for its workforce.
Orion International is a leading national recruitment firm specializing in placement of transitioning military veterans with top civilian organizations. In celebration of its recent 25th Anniversary, the company designed a challenge coin to be given to those who have significantly contributed to finding civilian careers for veterans.
“Gemma has demonstrated a relentless commitment to hire veterans and is truly a leader in hiring those who have served,” said Mike Starich, Orion Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to present the 25th Anniversary Challenge Coin to Gemma in recognition of the passion and drive of your military hiring program,” Starich said.
“We greatly appreciate and are humbled by this honor,” said William F. Griffin, Gemma Power Systems Chief Executive Officer. “Our veterans ensure we all enjoy the freedoms they work to preserve with their service. The Gemma team is a highly motivated and creative group of experienced professionals and we’re proud of the fact that more than 20 percent of our staff employees are veterans,” Griffin said.
A challenge coin is traditionally a small coin or medallion (usually military) bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and is carried by the organization’s members. The coins are typically presented by unit commanders in recognition for special achievement, outstanding service or performance of duty.
